Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Demo Mauler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Demo Mauler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nate Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Diaz does no damage.

Mauler closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Mauler seems to be working for a kimura but Diaz defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mauler is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Diaz has managed to free his arm - good work.
Mauler is trying to control the action in half guard but Diaz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Mauler is really struggling to control Diaz but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Diaz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mauler is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Diaz sees it coming and defends easily.

Mauler is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Diaz defends it well.
Diaz wants to control but Mauler is keeping busy.

Diaz flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Diaz pushes Mauler off looking to stand but Mauler dives back in and keeps control.

Diaz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mauler can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Diaz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mauler is aware though and is defending well.
Diaz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Mauler tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard.

Diaz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mauler defends well.

Mauler is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Diaz is looking for a triangle but Mauler pushes his legs off easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Demo Mauler will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Mauler goes for a double leg but Diaz avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Diaz continues to drive forward.

Mauler shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Diaz napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mauler tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mauler has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Mauler is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Diaz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Diaz is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Mauler off and has taken his back!
Mauler might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mauler tries to escape but Diaz has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Mauler is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Mauler is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Diaz gets his way!

Mauler turns into Diaz and is now in his guard.
Mauler could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Nate Diaz has got the better of the ground game so far.

Mauler thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Diaz looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Mauler is defending well. Diaz quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Mauler has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Diaz celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
