Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rian MacFarlane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Petro Poroshenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacFarlane comes to the cage accompanied by The Foggy Dew. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Petro Poroshenko!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for MacFarlane. That snapped Poroshenko's head back.


It looks like Petro Poroshenko has been cut.
Poroshenko staying out of range there.
MacFarlane connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Poroshenko looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? MacFarlane is fending him off so far but Poroshenko persists. Nope, MacFarlane circles away and we're back to standing.
It looked like MacFarlane was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Poroshenko.
Poroshenko uses good head movement to avoid the hook from MacFarlane.
Poroshenko with the counter takedown but MacFarlane avoids it easily.
MacFarlane waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Poroshenko.
MacFarlane ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Poroshenko moves away.
Poroshenko is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
MacFarlane throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
MacFarlane throws a leg kick but Poroshenko moved away.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Poroshenko! But no joy.
MacFarlane throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Poroshenko is clearly trying to counter these attacks from MacFarlane with a body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
MacFarlane cracks Poroshenko with a good jab.
MacFarlane misses with a kick to the body.
MacFarlane misses with a looping right.
MacFarlane swings and misses with a hook to the body.
MacFarlane throws a nice outside leg kick.
Poroshenko uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by MacFarlane.
MacFarlane misses with a low kick.
MacFarlane throws a wild body kick that Poroshenko sees coming a mile off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
MacFarlane wants to slow Poroshenko down by chopping away at his legs.
Poroshenko looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Poroshenko avoids the head kick by MacFarlane.
MacFarlane throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Poroshenko unleashes a big counter combination but MacFarlane bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
No luck for Poroshenko with that takedown attempt.
MacFarlane throws a poor cross that misses

and Poroshenko decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in MacFarlane's guard.
Poroshenko throws a big right hand that misses.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

MacFarlane looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Poroshenko throwing strikes but missing.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Poroshenko with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Poroshenko trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Poroshenko postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
MacFarlane preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Poroshenko must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
MacFarlane is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Poroshenko trying to control the position from guard on top but MacFarlane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
MacFarlane has his hands on Poroshenko's head, controlling the position.
We've been hearing good reports from MacFarlane's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Poroshenko loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Poroshenko trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Poroshenko postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Poroshenko is looking to stand up but MacFarlane won't let him.

MacFarlane is looking for a triangle but Poroshenko pushes his legs off easily.

Poroshenko has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing MacFarlane to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Poroshenko is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - MacFarlane pulls down on the head and he's put Poroshenko to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Rian MacFarlane!
Rian MacFarlane is the new heavyweight champion!
In his post fight interview, Rian MacFarlane started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
