Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Westbrook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanchez comes to the cage accompanied by Where is My Mind? by Pixies. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Westbrook!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Steve Montenegro and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Westbrook darts in and clinches Sanchez up against the cage.
Sanchez fails to pull guard.

Sanchez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Westbrook scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Westbrook trying to mount his opponent but Sanchez defends it.
Sanchez wants to improve his position but Westbrook is controlling well.
Westbrook working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Westbrook keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sanchez wants to sweep but Westbrook has passed to side control!
Sanchez tries to bench press Westbrook off him but Westbrook keeps the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sanchez scores with a sloppy right hand. Westbrook should have avoided that one.

Westbrook closes the distance and clinches up with Sanchez, looking for a takedown. Westbrook pushes Sanchez against the cage but Sanchez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sanchez half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Westbrook wants to land a leg kick but Sanchez is out of range.
Sanchez looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Westbrook.
Sanchez went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Westbrook clinches up with Sanchez and pushes him back against the cage.
Sanchez is trying to push Westbrook away but Westbrook has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Westbrook is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Sanchez to keep the fight standing.
Steve Sanchez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Westbrook.

Westbrook breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Westbrook closes the distance and clinches up with Sanchez, looking for a takedown. Westbrook pushes Sanchez against the cage but Sanchez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sanchez feinted with a counter takedown.
Sanchez digs a good hook to Westbrook's body.
An inside leg kick lands from Westbrook.

Westbrook closes the distance and pushes Sanchez back into the cage.
Sanchez stops a takedown attempt from Westbrook.
Sanchez is looking to break free of the clinch but Westbrook has double underhooks.
Westbrook is stalling here.

Westbrook gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Sanchez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Westbrook defends well.
Westbrook must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Paul Westbrook dominated that round.

Sanchez leaves Westbrook with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Westbrook closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sanchez circles away.

Westbrook fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sanchez, pushing him back against the cage.
Sanchez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Westbrook pulls his leg out and moves away.
Westbrook misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Sanchez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Westbrook is working away from the top position though.

Westbrook works his foot free and advances to mount.

Sanchez has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Westbrook should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Sanchez has tightened it up now! Westbrook should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
