Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lamar Page (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colby Phifer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Colby Phifer has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Lamar Page's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lamar Page!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Colby Phifer!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Page falls off balance throwing a combination
letting Phifer counter with a right hand.
Page throws a head kick that misses.

Page gets tackled into the cage by Phifer. Phifer maintains the clinch.

Phifer manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Page wanted to stand there but Phifer had control of the position.

Phifer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Phifer holds on and takes a little breather.
Page throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Phifer is looking for a triangle but Page pushes his legs off easily.

Page postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Phifer is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Page, into his guard.

Page has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Page keeping moving, preventing Phifer from controlling successfully.
Page trying to control the position here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Phifer sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Page lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Phifer is looking for a triangle but Page pushes his legs off easily.
Page trying to control but Phifer is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Page wants to stand but Phifer is controlling his posture from full guard.
Phifer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Page trying to control but Phifer is working from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Phifer is on top in guard.

Phifer throws a big elbow that misses.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Page controls Phifer momentarily but Phifer frees himself.
Page pulls Phifer in close to his closed guard and prevents Phifer from doing any damage or advancing position.

Page scrambles and gets back to his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Phifer is defended easily by Page.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Page tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Colby Phifer will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Page ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Phifer moves away.
Page tries a head kick but it misses.
Phifer throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Page.


It looks like Lamar Page has been cut.
Page shoots in for a takedown but Phifer shows good takedown defense.
Page throws a right and a left that both miss.

Phifer moves into the clinch.
Page is looking for a takedown.
Phifer has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Phifer ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Phifer no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Page might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Phifer is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Page defends well.

Phifer fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Page, pushing him back against the cage.

Page pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Phifer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Page tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Phifer manages to circle out of the way.
Phifer darts in looking for a takedown but Page gets double underhooks and turns Phifer into the cage.
Page swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Lamar Page has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Colby Phifer.

Phifer moves into the clinch.

Phifer prevents a takedown attempt there.

Phifer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Phifer misses with a right hand
and Page counters with a left and a right that stings Phifer.
Page misses with a jab, cross combination.
Phifer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Page tries to counter by clinching up but Phifer breaks away and moves out of range.

and Page counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Page.
A frustrated look appears on Page's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Page has hold of one of Phifer's legs. Phifer is fighting the takedown attempt but Page gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Colby Phifer has got the better of the ground game so far.
Page wants to stand but Phifer is controlling his posture from full guard.

Page stands and steps away. Phifer gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Page misses with a series of wild punches.

Phifer moves into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lamar Page dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Lamar Page's cut.
That's time! Page's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Phifer manages to break the clinch.
Page throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Phifer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lamar Page is winning the standup battle so far.
Page shoots in looking for a takedown. Phifer tries to sprawl out of it but Page keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Phifer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Phifer rushes Page and presses him up against the cage.

Page jumps guard but Phifer stands there with Page around his waist. Page gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Page would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Page tries to stand but Phifer is controlling from the bottom.

Page gets to his feet - Phifer follows without any prompting.
Phifer shoots in and drives through. Page sprawls well.
Phifer tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Phifer checks a low kick from Page.
Page throws a sloppy head kick and Phifer moves out of range easily.
Page throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Phifer's head.
Page could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Page finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Page slaps away a takedown attempt from Phifer, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Page thinks about countering with a head kick.

Phifer closes the distance and pushes Page back into the cage.
Phifer fails to pull guard.
Lamar Page has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Colby Phifer.
Phifer stops a takedown attempt from Page.
Phifer tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Page smiles and moves away.
Page throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Phifer darts in looking for a takedown but Page gets double underhooks and turns Phifer into the cage.
Phifer just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromPage.
Phifer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Phifer shoots for a double leg takedown but Page sprawls well. He's pushed Phifer's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Page throws a sloppy head kick and Phifer moves out of range easily.

Phifer moves into range and clinches up with Page.
Page wants to break the clinch but can't.
Phifer is trying to break free.
Page goes for a takedown attempt but Phifer pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Page dives in and grabs Phifer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Phifer pushes down on Page's head and hops out.
Lamar Page is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Phifer forces Page back against the cage and clinches.
Phifer lands a hook that snaps the head of Page backwards.

And that's the end of the fight!
Colby Phifer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Phifer has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
