PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wykyd Dall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Volkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dall comes into the arena with Attitude blaring out of the sound system. Volkov is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Major Lazer & DJ Snake - Lean On (feat. MØ). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wykyd Dall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alexander Volkov!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volkov misses with a series of wild punches.
Dall on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Dall looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Volkov moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Dall got a little sloppy there for a moment and Volkov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dall has managed to get both his arms back between Volkov's legs - danger averted.
Dall in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dall works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Volkov is in trouble now - Dall has advanced to mount!

Dall jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Volkov is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Volkov and Dall has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dall throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Volkov works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Dall is looking for a kimura here.
Volkov works his way to full guard. Good work.
Dall looking to pass the guard.
Volkov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Volkov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dall doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dall manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Volkov is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dall defends well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Volkov working for a triangle but Dall defends it easily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dall accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Volkov wants to sweep but no luck.

Dall avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Volkov looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Dall wants to control from the top but Volkov keeps moving.

Dall trying to mount his opponent but Volkov defends it.
Dall has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dall is keen to just control but Volkov is a slippery customer.
Volkov is looking to improve his position.

Dall is looking to take a break and control but Volkov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Dall is working for a kimura but Volkov is defending it quite comfortably.
Dall has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Dall wants to control the pace but Volkov is squirming around nicely.
Dall punishing his opponent with strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Volkov is wriggling around trying to escape.

Dall jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Volkov manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Volkov stops Dall from passing to mount.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The fighters circling - Dall throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Dall fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Donk. Dall catches Volkov right on the button with a cross.
Dall wants to slow Volkov down by chopping away at his legs.
Volkov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dall moves away.
A solid body kick from Dall.
Dall is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Volkov can do to turn this around?
Nice jab there from Dall.
Dall throws a leg kick but Volkov moved away.
Dall dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Dall.
Volkov is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Dall throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Wykyd Dall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dall cracks a nice hook into Volkov's ribs.
Volkov misses with an uppercut
and Dall cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Volkov lands a nice looking body shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dall throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Dall chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Dall looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Dall looks to land a body kick but Volkov moved away.
Both fighters circling a little - Dall finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Dall throws a poor cross that misses

and Volkov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Volkov tries to free his leg and advance position but Dall is retaining full guard.

Dall working for a triangle but Volkov defends it easily.
Volkov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Volkov sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dall's guard.
Dall is looking for a sweep. Volkov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Volkov is pressing down on Dall's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dall is holding on for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dall slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Volkov is on top in guard.

Dall manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Volkov manages to get himself to full guard.

Dall thows a body kick. Volkov tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Sloppy strikes from Volkov. Those never looked like landing.
Dall fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Volkov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dall manages to avoid it.
Volkov takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Dall had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Volkov defends it easily.
Volkov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dall swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dall controls Volkov momentarily but Volkov frees himself.

Dall is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Volkov defends well.

Dall has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Volkov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Volkov is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dall is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dall has escaped and now he's on top!

Dall is pushing down on Volkov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Volkov is fighting to maintain full guard but Dall has managed to sneak the leg through.
Wykyd Dall is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Volkov tries to roll over but Dall keeps him under control.

I would just about give that final round to Alexander Volkov.
Well Dall has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
