Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mohammed Franks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyson Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyson Jackson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mohammed Franks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tyson Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Franks tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jackson is in Franks's guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Franks holds on and takes a little breather.

Franks manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Tyson Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Franks fails with the takedown.
Franks doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Jackson moves into the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jackson manages to pull guard.
Franks won't allow Jackson to get back to his feet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jackson is on top in guard.

Franks is looking for a triangle but Jackson pushes his legs off easily.
Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Franks is retaining full guard.
Jackson throws an elbow that misses. Franks uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jackson's guard. Nice move by Franks!

Franks won't allow Jackson to get back to his feet.
Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Hilo inform us that Jackson has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Franks works over Jackson with some ground and pound from guard.

Franks drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Franks jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Franks gets caught flat footed, as Jackson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jackson won't allow Franks to get back to his feet.

Jackson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Franks dives on top into guard.

Franks in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Franks is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Franks decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jackson, up you get!

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mohammed Franks. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jackson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Franks's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Mohammed Franks will probably get the nod.

Franks will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Franks is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jackson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
You can see the frustration on Jackson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Franks is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jackson has escaped the position, nice work there.

Franks tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Franks has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Franks wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jackson sneaks out the side door and pushes Franks away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Jackson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Franks has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Jackson is on him like a limpet, forcing Franks back against the cage.
Jackson is breathing heavily.

Jackson jumps into guard, dragging Franks to the mat.

Jackson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Franks defends it easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Franks wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mohammed Franks will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Mohammed Franks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Franks is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Franks is defended easily by Jackson.

Franks gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jackson to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Franks has control of Jackson's left arm, preventing Jackson from doing any damage.
Jackson wants to get up but he can't break Franks's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jackson has gone for a leg lock! Franks slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jackson's guard.


And that's the end of the fight!
Mohammed Franks showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Franks, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
