Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eli Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Ronson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Gomes.
Gomes tries to stand but Ronson is controlling his head.
Gomes works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Ronson takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Gomes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ronson wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Ronson is looking to regain half guard here but Gomes keeps moving and retains side control.
Ronson throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gomes slows the pace down.
Ronson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gomes wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Gomes has an Americana. Ronson didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Gomes is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Gomes hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
