The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leifsson is looking to clinch.
Leifsson tries to clinch but Ruiz moves away

so Ruiz counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Ruiz is looking to pass into half guard but Leifsson pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Leifsson is in guard.

Ruiz wants to sweep but no luck.
Ruiz pulls Leifsson in close to his closed guard and prevents Leifsson from doing any damage or advancing position.

Ruiz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Leifsson defends well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ruiz has a closed guard, preventing Leifsson from standing up.
Ruiz has Leifsson pulled in close to control his posture.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ruiz pulls Leifsson in close to his closed guard and prevents Leifsson from doing any damage or advancing position.
Leifsson throws an elbow that misses. Ruiz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Leifsson's guard. Nice move by Ruiz!

Leifsson pushes Ruiz off and scrambles back to his feet.

Leifsson rushes Ruiz and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Leifsson avoids a wild elbow strike from Ruiz.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Ruiz turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Ruiz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Leifsson keeps working.
Ruiz controls the position from side control.

Ruiz has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Leifsson is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Ruiz yanks on the arm and Leifsson is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Ruiz.
