PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mark Corden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Gotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corden comes into the arena with Osmani Garcia - El Taxi blaring out of the sound system. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Corden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Gotti!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk. Corden catches Gotti right on the button with a cross.
Gotti shoots for a takedown but Corden saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Mark Corden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Gotti.

Corden gets caught flat footed, as Gotti shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Gotti pushes down on Corden's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Corden is looking to improve his position.

Gotti is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Corden doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gotti.

Corden is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gotti pulls his head out easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Corden is looking for a sweep. Gotti is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Gotti is trying to control the action in half guard but Corden is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Still in half guard, Gotti seems content to control.
Corden trying to hold on to Gotti's head to control him but Gotti postures up.
Gotti has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Gotti breaks from Corden's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Gotti jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Corden is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Corden and Gotti has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Gotti thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Gotti wants to lay and pray for a moment but Corden keeps working.

Gotti advances to mount.
Gotti wants to take his opponent's back but Corden doesn't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Corden is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Gotti has taken his back.

Gotti looking for the choke but no joy.
Corden has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gotti keeps control of the position as Corden tries to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Corden might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gotti sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Corden's guard.

Gotti passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Corden!
Gotti is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Corden is in real trouble.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

I really don't envy Corden right now.

Corden knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gotti on the ground.
Gotti keeps control of the position as Corden tries to break free.

Gotti seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Corden's chin but Corden turns very nicely into Gotti's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Corden.
Gotti has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gotti is on top in guard.


Corden looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Gotti has picked Corden up and slammed him! Corden can't keep hold of the triangle and Gotti manages to pass to side control!

Gotti misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Corden sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Don Gotti showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Gotti might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Corden haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Gotti's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Gotti is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Corden knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Corden for a finish.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Corden tries to escape but Gotti has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Gotti slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Corden tries to escape but Gotti has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
What can Corden do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Don Gotti comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Gotti winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
