The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcgregor dives in for a single leg takedown but Ryback sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Horrible takedown attempt by Ryback or perhaps it was just good defense by Mcgregor, which made it look bad.
Mcgregor tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ryback paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ryback was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Ryback dives in and grabs Mcgregor's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mcgregor pushes down on Ryback's head and hops out.
Mcgregor tries to clinch up but Ryback circles away and keeps his distance.
Mcgregor throws a sloppy head kick and Ryback moves out of range easily.
Mcgregor is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ryback sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ryback misses with a hook. Mcgregor ducked under it nicely.
Mcgregor replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Ryback blocks it well.
Ryback takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Mcgregor throws a series of punches but Ryback avoids them all with ease.

Ryback fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mcgregor, pushing him back against the cage.

Mcgregor drags the fight down to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ryback postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Mcgregor has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Ryback has passed into side control.
Ryback lands an elbow.
Mcgregor takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Ryback takes a little break here. Mcgregor wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Ryback has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mcgregor is looking to reverse the position.

Ryback is trying to get an arm triangle but Mcgregor is defending well.
Mcgregor tries to bench press Ryback off him but Ryback keeps the position.
