The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanches tries to clinch there but Jones circles away.
Victor Sanches seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sanches circles away quickly and effectively.
Jones looks to land a combination but Sanches avoids it well.

Jones's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Sanches connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Jones scrambles back to his feet.

Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jones throws a nice looking combination but Sanches bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Jones on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Sanches shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Sanches keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Sanches throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sanches off to one side.

Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Sanches throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jones tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sanches is in Jones's guard.

Jones is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Sanches had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Sanches shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jones napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Despite the aggression on Jones's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

and Jones counters with a three punch combo that has Sanches backing up. Sanches nods at Jones to acknowledge the strikes.

Sanches lands a head kick. Jones smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Jones rushes Sanches and presses him up against the cage.

Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Jones throws a nice looking combination but Sanches bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Sanches throws a jab when Jones was well out of range.
Jones is working the combinations to good effect here.

Sanches wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.

Sanches scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sanches sprawls well. Sanches wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.

Sanches fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Jones has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Jones ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Oh Sanches is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jones walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Sanches drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Jones swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Sanches's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
