The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lao tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lao throws a hook to the side of Schmall Jr's head but Schmall Jr sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Schmall Jr avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Lao takes one to the side of the head.
A low kick from Lao is predictable there

and Schmall Jr counters with a beautiful hook that drops Lao to the mat! Will Lao be able to recover his senses? The referee starts the count at 3 having sent Schmall Jr to a neutral corner. 4,5,6 and Lao is up. He looks OK to continue.
Schmall Jr takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

letting Lao counter with a right hand.

Schmall Jr throws a looping overhand right but Lao ducks down to avoid it.
Lao loads up on a big right hand but Schmall Jr slips the punch.
Schmall Jr takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Lao walks into a big right hand from Schmall Jr and goes down! The referee sends Schmall Jr to a neutral corner as Lao gets back to his feet. He looks OK so we're back under way.
Lao throws the left hand but Schmall Jr avoids the punch easily.

Schmall Jr cracks Lao with a left hand that drops him to the canvas, up against the cage! Can Lao get back up in time? 3, 4, 5, 6, 7... he's on one knee... 8, 9... he's up! 'Walk towards me' says the referee. Lao looks steady enough to continue so we're going to continue!

Lao smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Lao is still on wobbly legs! Can Schmall Jr finish him?
Lao misses with a wild combination.
Lao seems to have recovered his senses.
Schmall Jr throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lao moves out of range as Schmall Jr strikes.
Schmall Jr misses the shot to the body.
Lao throws a nice looking combination but Schmall Jr bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Schmall Jr works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Schmall Jr scores a flash knockdown with a right hook that drops Lao to his hands and knees! The ref pushes Schmall Jr away as he looks to land an illegal blow. Lao got an extra few seconds to recover there, which could have made all the differences as he stumbles back to his feet. The referee looks into his eyes and decides to allow the bout to continue. Can he survive?!

Lao is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Schmall Jr.
