The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carnera misses with a takedown

and McClagan counters with a takedown into side control.
Carnera tries to escape but McClagan is in control.

Carnera wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carnera throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carnera sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
McClagan looks to land a strike but Carnera avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
McClagan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

McClagan forces his way into half guard.
McClagan wants to stand up but Carnera is controlling the position.
McClagan really is a fat lump.
McClagan wants to free his trapped foot but Carnera is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Carnera wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McClagan is just content to waste time from the top position. Carnera takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
McClagan postures up in Carnera's guard and throws a big left but Carnera blocks it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Carnera working for a triangle but McClagan defends it easily.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
McClagan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Carnera not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Carnera tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
McClagan drops down looking for a counter takedown but Carnera sprawls and moves away.
McClagan slaps away a takedown attempt from Carnera, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Carnera doesn't manage to clinch there - McClagan circles away.

McClagan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Carnera is proving hard to escape from.
Carnera wants to stand but McClagan is controlling the position.

Carnera is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McClagan is aware though and is defending well.
McClagan with a flurry of punches that miss.

Carnera has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. McClagan doesn't defend quickly enough and Carnera has managed to lock this one up! Can McClagan escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Carnera on a fantastic submission victory.
