Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gary Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Diamond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Day comes to the cage accompanied by Last minute - Great day to choke you out. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gary Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, King Diamond!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diamond clinches up with Day and pushes him back against the cage.

Day successfully pulls guard.
Diamond throws a big right hand that misses.

Day looking for a guillotine here but Diamond defends easily.
Day keeping moving, preventing Diamond from controlling successfully.

Diamond slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Day escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diamond gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diamond is in close to Day's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Diamond postures up in Day's guard and throws a big left but Day blocks it.
Diamond with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Diamond lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Diamond postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Day is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Day keeping moving, preventing Diamond from controlling successfully.
Day tries to strike from the bottom.
Diamond missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Day has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Diamond can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Day will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Diamond accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Diamond trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Day manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Diamond pulls Day in close to his closed guard and prevents Day from doing any damage or advancing position.
Day looking to sit in guard and control but Diamond gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


That's two minutes gone in the round.
Diamond trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Day doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Diamond sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Day has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Day is looking for a triangle but Diamond pushes his legs off easily.

Diamond postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Day is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Diamond, into his guard.

Day lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Day advances position into side control!
Day misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Diamond takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The strikes coming from Day are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Day is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Diamond is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Diamond is looking for a sweep.
Day wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diamond keeps working.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Diamond stuck in half guard on the bottom here.
Day looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Diamond is avoiding damage well.
Day tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
You can see the frustration on Diamond's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Day lands some shots froms side control.
Day working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Diamond regains half guard.
Ground and pound from Day.
Diamond tries to roll over but Day keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gary Day dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Day tries to clinch but Diamond moves out of range.

Diamond moves into range and clinches up with Day.
Diamond struggles to land a body shot inside as Day controls his hands.
Diamond lands a shoulder strike.
Day is struggling to control the position.
Day tries a body shot but Diamond blocks it.
Day is working Diamond over against the cage.
Day is trying to push Diamond away but Diamond has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Diamond misses with a body punch.

Day breaks the clinch.
Day misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Diamond.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diamond walks forward, straight into a front kick from Day.
Diamond takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Gary Day seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Day missing with a left hand there. Diamond was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A jab from Day misses.
Day is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Diamond can do to turn this around?

Day closes the distance and pushes Diamond back into the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Day managing to block the knees to the body from Diamond.
Diamond lands with a right to the head.
Day is trying to stall.
Day lands a body shot.
Diamond makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Day scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Day misses with a punch on the inside.

Day is fighting off a takedown attempt but Diamond is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Day to the mat. Day regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Diamond trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Day is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Diamond rolls with it to try and escape but Day cranks on the arm and Diamond is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gary Day!
A very excited looking Gary Day made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
King Diamond was interviewed post fight and said 'Thanks to all the fans, I'll be back!!'.
