The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Meridius or perhaps it was just good defense by Jackson, which made it look bad.
Meridius fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Meridius closes the distance and clinches.

Meridius tries to throw a body punch but Jackson avoids it by throwing Meridius back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Meridius wants to take the fight to the mat but Jackson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Rodney Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maximus Meridius.

Jackson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Meridius has time to react.

Meridius takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Jackson scores with a counter punch that sends Meridius to the canvas! Jackson smells blood - he's punishing Meridius with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Meridius has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
