Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gulun Shulun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gulun Shulun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mike Lee!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch but Shulun swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lee shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Shulun throws a shot to the body.
Lee tries to clinch up but Shulun circles away and keeps his distance.
Shulun attempts a counter takedown but Lee avoids it well and moves away.
Shulun scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Mike Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lee misses with a jab, cross combination.

Lee swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Shulun cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Shulun really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Shulun is trying to push Lee away but Lee has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shulun cracks a nice hook into Lee's ribs.

Shulun drops down looking for a counter takedown but Lee sprawls and moves away.
Lee's coach down at Body Pain_14elite_650$+VM was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Lee's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Shulun has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Shulun will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Lee wants to sweep but no luck.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Shulun stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lee swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Shulun looks to score with a jab to the body but Lee is just out of range.
Lee tries to clinch but Shulun moves out of range.
An attempted straight right counter from Shulun misses the target.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shulun. Lee does a little dance to reset his feet.
Shulun circles away from the clinch attempt.

Lee gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Shulun is in close to Lee's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Shulun is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Lee is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Lee has escaped and now he's on top!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Shulun lands an overhand right.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lee enables Shulun to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lee manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Lee had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shulun defends it easily.

Shulun is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lee can do to turn this around?

Lee lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Lee postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lee wants to control from the top but Shulun keeps moving.
Shulun not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Gulun Shulun overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Shulun is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lee is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Lee seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Lee got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shulun has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lee has managed to get both his arms back between Shulun's legs - danger averted.

Shulun looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Lee has picked Shulun up and slammed him! Shulun can't keep hold of the triangle and Lee manages to pass to side control!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Lee counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Lee shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shulun as he avoids it easily.
Lee tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mike Lee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Shulun misses with a body shot.

Lee takes the fight into the clinch.
Lee tries to land knees in the clinch but Shulun avoids the damage to the body.
Shulun stops a takedown attempt from Lee.

Lee wants to pass the guard but Shulun is defending well.
Lee is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Shulun wants to control but Lee is keeping busy.
Shulun is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Shulun works his way to full guard. Good work.
Shulun is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lee throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Lee content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Shulun has locked up a guillotine! Shulun's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Lee is holding on here and Shulun must be using up a lot of energy. Lee has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Shulun gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
