Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Louis Paterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcelo Santiago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paterson comes to the cage accompanied by Ce Fait Mal - La Founine. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Marcelo Santiago was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcelo Santiago!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santiago displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Paterson throws out the jab.
Paterson misses with a hook. Santiago ducked under it nicely.
Nice defenses there by Santiago.
Paterson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Paterson throws a sloppy body shot
and Santiago connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

A little feinted left hand from Paterson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Paterson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santiago darts in looking for a takedown but Paterson gets double underhooks and turns Santiago into the cage.

Santiago changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Paterson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

and Santiago cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Santiago shoots in for a takedown but Paterson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A quick step to the side and Paterson tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Louis Paterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcelo Santiago.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Paterson takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Paterson digs a right hand underneath Santiago's ribcage. Santiago let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Paterson goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Santiago tries to pull guard but Paterson won't allow it.
Paterson manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Paterson lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Paterson lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Santiago backwards.
Paterson is leaning against Santiago and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Paterson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Our spies down at at Vendetta Alliance London Gym inform us that Santiago has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Santiago is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paterson landing with the ground and pound.
Paterson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Santiago has a closed guard, preventing Paterson from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Santiago shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Paterson sprawls well. Paterson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Santiago gets slowly back to his feet.

Paterson drops Santiago onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Santiago is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
