PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mario Robertson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mario Robertson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jim Bob!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bob fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Robertson, pushing him back against the cage.

Robertson breaks from the clinch.

Bob feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Bob is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Robertson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bob stands up over Robertson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Robertson wants to sweep but no luck.

Robertson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Robertson is pulling down on Bob's head. It's preventing any offense from Bob, at least for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bob drops back looking for a leg! Robertson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Robertson manages to kick Bob off! Bob jumps back into Robertson's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bob wants to control from the top but Robertson keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Bob tries for a takedown but Robertson circles away easily
letting Robertson counter with a right hand.

Robertson blocks a body shot from Bob.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Robertson has had enough of the clinch but Bob keeps him there for the moment.
Bob keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Robertson's efforts to push away.

Robertson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bob has him pressed against the cage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Robertson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Robertson moves into the clinch successfully.
Bob is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Robertson to keep the fight standing.
Bob can't find room to land a body shot as Robertson controls the action.
Bob jumps guard but Robertson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Mario Robertson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Bob.

Bob turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Robertson sneaks out the side door and pushes Bob away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Bob feints and as Robertson raises his hands in defense, Bob changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bob is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Robertson looking to control but Bob passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Bob dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Bob gets tackled into the cage by Robertson. Robertson maintains the clinch.

Robertson has picked Bob up - he's going for a ride! Robertson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Bob has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Robertson is working away from the top position though.
Bob wants to improve his position but Robertson is controlling well.

Robertson is looking for a kimura but Bob is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Robertson to get the leverage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Robertson wants to work for an arm triangle but Bob is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Bob regains full guard. Nicely done.
Jim Bob has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bob is on top in guard.

Bob wants to control from the top but Robertson keeps moving.

Bob gets to his feet. Robertson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Robertson clinches up with Bob and pushes him back against the cage.
Bob tries to break free but Robertson pushes him back against the cage.
Bob tries to land knees in the clinch but Robertson avoids the damage to the body.

Robertson breaks from the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Robertson.
Bob only half commits to the counter leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

and Bob takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Bob clinches.
Bob has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Robertson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Robertson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Bob is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
A bit of stalling here from Bob.

Robertson tries to circle away but Bob has him pinned against the cage.
Robertson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Bob breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A good leg kick by Robertson.
Bob misses with a series of wild punches.
Robertson jabs Bob to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Robertson pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Bob back to the cage. Robertson follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Bob fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Robertson sprawls well initially but Bob persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Bob postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Robertson to stand up.

Bob closes the distance and clinches.

Robertson breaks from the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bob dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Jim Bob seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Robertson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Robertson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bob sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bob bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Bob works to advance to full mount. Robertson defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bob controlling the pace for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jim Bob will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Robertson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bob to the mat! Bob manages to get full guard.

Bob has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Robertson is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Robertson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Robertson breaks the clinch.
Robertson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Robertson gets caught napping as Bob dives in and scores a takedown. Robertson manages to retain guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bob chips away with some ground and pound.


Robertson is rocked!
Bob stands and throws Robertson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Oh Robertson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Bob scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Robertson to see if he's OK.
Bob lands a strong strike to the head of Robertson. That's dazed him! Bob looking to finish here. Robertson is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Bob lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jim Bob!
