PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chip Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edd Palakiko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan comes to the cage accompanied by Lose Yourself. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chip Ryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Edd Palakiko!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Phil Schofield and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan fails with a takedown attempt.

Ryan drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Palakiko bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Ryan is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Palakiko's half guard.

Palakiko makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Ryan seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ryan gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Palakiko is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ryan to keep the fight standing.

Ryan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ryan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Palakiko tries to avoid it but Ryan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Palakiko to the ground. Palakiko escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And Palakiko tries to counter it with a takedown but Ryan pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Ryan moves into the clinch.
Ryan wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chip Ryan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ryan jumps into guard, dragging Palakiko to the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Palakiko controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ryan is defended easily by Palakiko.

Palakiko shoots in but Ryan avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Ryan darts in looking for a takedown but Palakiko gets double underhooks and turns Ryan into the cage.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Palakiko shoots in looking for a takedown. Ryan tries to sprawl out of it but Palakiko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ryan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Palakiko tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ryan defends well and Palakiko ends up having to push Ryan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ryan darts in looking for a takedown but Palakiko gets double underhooks and turns Ryan into the cage.

Ryan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Ryan drops back looking for a leg! Palakiko is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Palakiko manages to kick Ryan off! Ryan jumps back into Palakiko's guard.
Ryan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Palakiko is looking for a sweep.

Ryan is trying to get an arm triangle but Palakiko is defending well.
Ryan in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Palakiko on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Check out the look on Ryan's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chip Ryan dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Ryan fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Horrible takedown attempt by Ryan or perhaps it was just good defense by Palakiko, which made it look bad.
Palakiko shoots in but no luck this time.

Ryan shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Ryan is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Palakiko!

Palakiko is still in real trouble! Can Ryan finish him?

Ryan has control of Palakiko's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Palakiko regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Ryan unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Palakiko wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Ryan celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chip Ryan!
