Carter comes to the cage accompanied by Jazz Cartier - New Religion. Walton Kunz will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Walton Kunz!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Carter takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nice defenses there by Carter.
Kunz darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Kunz takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Carter looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Kunz throws a hook but Carter avoids it easily.
Carter's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kunz under the eye.

and Carter counters with a takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Carter postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kunz looks a forlorn figure.
Carter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kunz is in a horrible position here. Carter smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Carter cracks Kunz with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
