Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Combs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Aduriz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Juan Aduriz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Combs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Juan Aduriz!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aduriz closes the distance and clinches.
Combs blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Aduriz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Combs shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Aduriz as he avoids it easily.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Aduriz throws a big elbow that misses.
Aduriz postures up in Combs's guard and throws a big left but Combs blocks it.

Combs is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aduriz is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Aduriz has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Combs is proving hard to escape from.

Combs looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Combs has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Aduriz.

Combs tries to sprawl but Aduriz drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Combs is trying to maintain the position but Aduriz is very close to passing his half guard.

Aduriz is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Combs might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Aduriz gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Aduriz tries to clinch up but Combs circles away and keeps his distance.
Combs appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

and Aduriz counters with a one-two to the body.

Combs has taken the fight to the clinch.

Aduriz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Aduriz moves into the clinch.

Aduriz manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Combs throws an elbow that misses. Aduriz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Combs's guard. Nice move by Aduriz!


Combs looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Aduriz has picked Combs up and slammed him! Combs can't keep hold of the triangle and Aduriz manages to pass to side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Aduriz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Combs keeps working.
Aduriz throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Aduriz slips into full mount, dodging the strikes by Combs.
Combs wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Aduriz dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Combs. That did some damage!
Combs could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Aduriz throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Combs.
Aduriz is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Aduriz tries to close the distance and clinch but Combs swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Combs misses with a hook. Aduriz ducked under it nicely.
Aduriz wants to counter with a clinch but Combs pushes him away.

Aduriz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Aduriz lands in his opponent's guard.

Aduriz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Combs has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Aduriz has managed to get both his arms back between Combs's legs - danger averted.

Combs is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Aduriz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Aduriz is stalling in the full guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Aduriz moves into the clinch successfully.

Aduriz has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Combs clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Combs covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

Aduriz slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Combs defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Aduriz's arms.

Aduriz is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Aduriz is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Combs is defending well though. Aduriz let's go of the attempt for now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Juan Aduriz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Aduriz is looking for a kimura but Combs is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Aduriz to get the leverage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Combs avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Aduriz.

Aduriz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Combs doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Aduriz.

Aduriz scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Aduriz is nestled in close to Combs, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Aduriz drives through with a takedown into Combs's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Well Aduriz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
