PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Phillip Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bo Paitich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brooks comes to the cage accompanied by The Memory Remains. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Phillip Brooks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bo Paitich!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Brooks fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Paitich sprawls well initially but Brooks persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Paitich makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Paitich fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Paitich throws a body shot but no joy.

Paitich gets caught napping as Brooks dives in and scores a takedown. Paitich manages to retain guard.

Paitich has his feet on Brooks's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Brooks takes the fight into the clinch.
Paitich misses with a hook from the clinch.
Paitich drops down looking for an ankle pick but Brooks pulls his leg out and moves away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Paitich.

Brooks wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Brooks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Brooks wants to control but Paitich postures up.
Brooks regains half guard.
Well, if Paitich is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Paitich prevents Brooks from improving his position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Paitich has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Brooks is squirming around, avoiding Paitich's attempts to control the action.

Brooks looks like he's trying to stand up.

Brooks has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Paitich is on him like a limpet, forcing Brooks back against the cage.

Paitich pulls guard effortlessly.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Brooks trying to control the position from guard on top but Paitich is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Paitich wants to sweep here but Brooks controlling him for the moment.
Paitich seems keen to control Brooks's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brooks slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Brooks won't allow Paitich to sweep him here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Bo Paitich has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Paitich is looking to advance position but Brooks won't allow it.

Brooks is looking for a sweep. Paitich is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Paitich is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brooks defends it well.
Still in half guard, Paitich seems content to control.
Paitich prevents Brooks from standing back up.
Paitich is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Brooks trying to hold on to Paitich's head to control him but Paitich postures up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Paitich changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brooks tries to avoid it but Paitich manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brooks to the ground. Brooks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Brooks shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Brooks wants to take a breather but Paitich is having none of it.
Paitich is concentrating on defense, preventing Brooks from advancing position.
Paitich is not content to let Brooks control the position.
Paitich is trying is best to control the position here.

Brooks is stalling here. Paitich is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Brooks seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Paitich has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Brooks tries to bench press Paitich off him but Paitich keeps the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Brooks wants to control but Paitich postures up.
Paitich landing a few strikes.

Brooks wants to hold on but Paitich pushes him away.
Paitich lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Brooks hang on?

Bo Paitich showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Paitich throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Paitich has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Brooks is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Paitich.

Paitich is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Brooks is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Brooks goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Paitich is on top in guard.

Brooks trying to keep a closed guard but Paitich is proving a slippery customer.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Paitich is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Paitich has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Paitich scoring with some ground and pound.
Paitich trying to control but Brooks is working from the bottom.

Brooks looking for subs off his back but Paitich has passed one foot through into half guard.
Paitich uses his free foot to push down on Brooks's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Brooks.
Brooks really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Paitich has control of Brooks's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Brooks regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Brooks swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Paitich is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Brooks has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Brooks throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bo Paitich comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Paitich winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
