Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ji Lu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akamai Hoi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoi is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Blood Red Sky. Ji Lu has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ji Lu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Akamai Hoi!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoi throws a hook but Lu blocks it.
A thudding body kick lands there by Hoi!
We've been informed that Hoi has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Lu swings away with a body shot that misses
and Hoi counters with a body kick that stops Lu in his tracks momentarily.
Lu swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hoi lands with a nice body kick.
Hoi misses with the body kick

and Lu counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hoi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lu is working away from the top position though.
Lu looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Lu throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hoi moves into full guard.
Lu cracks Hoi with a solid left hand.

Lu thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Lu postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Lu throws an elbow that misses. Hoi uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lu's guard. Nice move by Hoi!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lu is looking for a triangle but Hoi pushes his legs off easily.
Lu looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hoi is one step ahead there.

Lu is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Lu looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hoi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hoi keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Hoi is staying active underneath Lu, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Lu scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Lu lands with a punch from half guard.
Lu is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Lu wants to control but Hoi is keeping him busy.

Hoi has one foot on Lu's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Lu moves out of range of the body kick.
Akamai Hoi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hoi stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Lu misses with a left hand
and Hoi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Ji Lu has been cut.
Hoi tries to land a front kick but Lu steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Lu is looking to counter punch.
Hoi avoids the body shot from Lu.
Hoi tries a quick counter leg kick but Lu is wise to it.

and Lu counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Lu throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hoi sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Hoi thows a body kick. Lu tries to catch it but that hurt him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lu slips a jab from Hoi.
A counter left hand to the body from Lu misses its target.
Hoi misses with a body shot.
Hoi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A quick step to the side and Lu tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
A slow jab from Lu misses its intended target.
Hoi swings away with a body shot that misses
and Lu counters with a leg kick.
Lu avoids a kick to the body.
Hoi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Akamai Hoi will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Ji Lu's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hoi looks to throw a body kick
and Lu counters with a stiff right hand.
Hoi misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lu.
Hoi thuds a left hand into Lu's body.
Lu throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lu just misses with a punch to the body.
Lu misses with a looping left.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hoi moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Lu misses the target.
Hoi misses with an attempted mid kick.

Lu takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Hoi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Lu throws a looping overhand right but Hoi ducks down to avoid it.
Hoi looks for the body kick but Lu saw that one coming.
Lu throws a predictable looking body shot
and Hoi counters with a thumping low kick.
Lu on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Hoi lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Hoi scores with a head kick. Lu tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Hoi staying out of range there.

Lu throws a right hand that misses
and Hoi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Lu will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
Hoi throws a leg kick but Lu sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Lu tries to counter with a takedown but Hoi is quick to defend against it.
Lu throws a hook but Hoi blocks it.
Despite the aggression on Hoi's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Lu moves out of range of the body kick from Hoi.
It looked like Lu wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hoi looks to score with a jab to the body but Lu is just out of range.

Hoi lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Hoi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lu manages to avoid it.
Lu swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Hoi. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Hoi takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Hoi scores with a kick to the body.
Lu avoids a kick to the body.
A little feinted left hand from Lu on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Nice body kick there by Hoi.
Hoi misses with a body shot.
Hoi keeps Lu at a distance using the push kick.
Lu drops his hands momentarily and Hoi takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.


Ji Lu's cut is getting worse.
A punch combination from Lu misses.
Hoi lands a slapping body shot.
Hoi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Akamai Hoi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hoi connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Lu avoids a punch combination nicely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hoi has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Lu finds it's way round the side to connect with Hoi's head.

Hoi is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Akamai Hoi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Hoi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lu looks to throw the jab but Hoi is out of range.
Hoi throws a counter combo.
Hoi misses with the body kick

and Hoi is countered with a crisp right hand from Lu that sends him to the canvas! Lu follows him to the mat into side control.


Hoi is rocked!


It looks like Akamai Hoi has been cut.
Lu in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
You can see the frustration on Hoi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Lu is putting a hurting on Hoi here, landing some big shots from side control.

Hoi is still in real trouble! Can Lu finish him?

Hoi seems to have recovered his senses.
Lu throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Hoi works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Lu seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hoi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Lu tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hoi knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lu has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hoi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ji Lu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hoi wants to get up but he can't break Lu's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Lu is trying to control the position but Hoi postures up.
Lu tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hoi wants to stand and escape but instead Lu has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

I think Hoi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
