Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kyros Aigaios (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aigaios comes to the cage accompanied by Unsheathe your blade, Paul Smith. It's on.. Paul Smith has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but Aigaios sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Aigaios gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Aigaios on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Aigaios tries to get out of the position.
Aigaios is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
It looks like Smith might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Smith doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Aigaios counters with a one-two to the body.
Smith tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Aigaios defends well and Smith ends up having to push Aigaios into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Kyros Aigaios has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Smith.

Smith moves into range and clinches up with Aigaios.

Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Aigaios as he avoids it easily.
Aigaios looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Aigaios digs a good hook to Smith's body.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but Aigaios swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Aigaios sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.

Smith takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Smith lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Aigaios circles away quickly and effectively.

Aigaios throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Smith on the side of the head.

Aigaios keeps the fight on the outside.
Smith looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Aigaios lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Aigaios gets tackled into the cage by Smith. Smith maintains the clinch.

Aigaios's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Smith forces Aigaios back against the cage and clinches.
Aigaios lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Smith takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Aigaios pushes Smith up against the cage in a clinch.
Smith tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Aigaios smiles and moves away.

Smith has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Aigaios.

Smith fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Aigaios avoids it really well and circles away.

Smith manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Smith might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Aigaios haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Smith is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Aigaios is surviving well by controlling Smith's body position as best he can.
Oh Aigaios is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Smith has control of Aigaios's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Aigaios regains control of the situation pretty easily.
