Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richmond Finch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 33 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Aldo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Richmond Finch!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Aldo shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Aldo seems to be working for a kimura but Finch defends the submission attempt.
Finch slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Aldo looking to pass the guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aldo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Finch is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Aldo has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

and Finch cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Finch swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Aldo.
Aldo throws a right hand that Finch ducks under and follows up with a left that Finch also avoids with ease.
Aldo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Finch sprawls well. Finch wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Aldo gets slowly back to his feet.
A decent looking cross lands there for Finch.


It looks like Jose Aldo has been cut.

Aldo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Finch dodges the ground and pound from Aldo.
Aldo misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Finch is looking for a sweep.
Finch tries to escape but Aldo is in control.

Aldo goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Finch rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Aldo's guard! Nice work there by Finch!

Aldo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Finch doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Finch manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Aldo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Finch is aware though and is defending well.
Finch controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Aldo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Finch pulls his head out easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Aldo has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Finch.
Finch bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Aldo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
It seemed like Finch was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Finch misses with a looping left.

Aldo fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Finch to the ground. Aldo is now in Finch's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Finch manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Aldo wants to take the fight to the mat but Finch manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Aldo is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Finch pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Aldo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Aldo is trying to pull guard but Finch has him pressed against the cage.

Aldo takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

so Aldo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Finch is controlling Aldo's posture.
Aldo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Finch not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Aldo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Finch swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Aldo takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Finch lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Finch has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Aldo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Finch manages to avoid it.
Some wild striking there from Aldo.

Finch dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Aldo. That did some damage!
Good exchange - Finch coming out on top.
Aldo takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Aldo on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Finch lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Finch throws an overhand right that lands on Aldo's shoulder, as Aldo tries to avoid the shot.
Aldo half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Finch scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Aldo fails with a takedown attempt.
Aldo takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Richmond Finch comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Finch winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
