PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dwight Prather (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonard Proudfeather (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Proudfeather's choice of entrance music: Come and Get Your Love. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dwight Prather !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leonard Proudfeather!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Prather as Proudfeather shoots in.
Prather tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Proudfeather counters with a head kick that drops Prather to the mat! Prather scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Prather changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Proudfeather looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Prather lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Proudfeather down.
Proudfeather is working to avoid the ground and pound but Prather connects with a decent elbow.
Proudfeather trying to remain calm as Prather controls from the top position.
Prather seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Proudfeather for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Proudfeather is looking for a sweep.
Proudfeather tries to escape but Prather is in control.

Prather decides to stand up, so the ref orders Proudfeather to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Proudfeather not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Prather postures up and lands a big shot to Proudfeather's brow.

Prather tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Proudfeather paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Prather goes for a double leg but Proudfeather avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Proudfeather continues to drive forward.

Prather misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Proudfeather tries to clinch up.
Prather leaves Proudfeather with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Proudfeather fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dwight Prather has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leonard Proudfeather.

Prather fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Proudfeather, pushing him back against the cage.

A counter left hand to the body from Prather misses its target.
Prather moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Prather shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Proudfeather is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Proudfeather is still trying to improve position.

Prather decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Proudfeather circles away from the clinch attempt.
Prather with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Proudfeather shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Prather pinned against the cage. Prather gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Proudfeather wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Prather manages to pass to side control.


Prather is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Proudfeather doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Prather .

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Prather is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Proudfeather can do to turn this around?

Proudfeather tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Prather defends well and Proudfeather ends up having to push Prather into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Prather has Proudfeather pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Proudfeather manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Prather jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Proudfeather walks away with a smile on his face. Prather gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Proudfeather struggling a bit here.

Proudfeather tries to get back to half guard but can't.
You can see the frustration on Proudfeather's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Proudfeather tries to buck Prather off but Prather is having none of it.
Prather trying to control the position but Proudfeather is working away.
Dwight Prather overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Prather decides to stand back up.
Proudfeather rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Prather moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Proudfeather looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Prather throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Proudfeather tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Prather is in Proudfeather's guard.
Prather sitting in guard, not really doing much.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dwight Prather will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Proudfeather stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Prather swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Proudfeather stopping the sweep attempt from Prather .
Prather avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Proudfeather avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Proudfeather trying to control the position from guard on top but Prather is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Prather looking to hit a scissor sweep but Proudfeather is one step ahead there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Prather controls Proudfeather momentarily but Proudfeather frees himself.
Proudfeather wants to stand but Prather has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Prather keeping moving, preventing Proudfeather from controlling successfully.
Proudfeather postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Prather can't keep his opponent in guard - Proudfeather advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Proudfeather tries to pass to full mount but Prather defends it.
Prather is holding on to half guard well.
Proudfeather stalling away here and it's allowed Prather to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Prather is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Proudfeather tries to stand but Prather is controlling from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Prather fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dwight Prather . That's going to take a lot out of him.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Proudfeather is defended easily by Prather .
Proudfeather explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Proudfeather misses with the combination.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dwight Prather .
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Prather , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Dwight Prather seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
Leonard Proudfeather spoke after the fight, saying '*leonard turns silently to the camera as a single tear rolls down his cheek*'.
