The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ayers fails with a takedown attempt.

Ayers clinches.
Ayers tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Duartez just stands there and leans against the cage.
Ayers misses with an elbow over the top.
Ayers tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Duartez smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fausto Ayers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ayers tries to clinch but Duartez moves away
and Duartez counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Duartez lands with an overhand left.
Pablito Duartez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Duartez lands with an uppercut that bounces Ayers off the cage and back into range.
Duartez ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Pablito Duartez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Ayers seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Duartez shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Ayers is backing up but Duartez catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Ayers covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Duartez Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
