And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Andrew Berry and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortega cracks Barnes with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Ortega lands the left hand.
It looks like Brayden Barnes has been cut.
Ortega misses with a few strikes there.
Ortega swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Barnes.
Barnes misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ortega.
As Barnes looks to move away, Ortega throws a big counter combo but Barnes just gets out of the way.
Nice shot lands for Ortega.
Barnes is rocked!
Ortega takes a jab right on the kisser.
Barnes drops his hands momentarily and Ortega takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Barnes is still on wobbly legs! Can Ortega finish him?
Barnes throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ortega.
Barnes seems to have recovered his senses.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ortega staying out of range there.
Ortega cracks Barnes with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Barnes looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Ortega finish him?
Ortega fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Barnes takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Barnes scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Barnes takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Ortega cracks a nice hook into Barnes's ribs.
Barnes misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Ortega cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ortega throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Barnes stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ortega ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Ortega doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ortega ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Barnes moves away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ortega with a nice cross.
Barnes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ortega defends well and Barnes ends up having to push Ortega into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
A little feinted left hand from Ortega on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Ortega lands a jab to Barnes's midsection.
Barnes misses with a double jab
and Ortega counters with a nice uppercut.
Carlos Ortega is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ortega fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Barnes, pushing him back against the cage.
I was talking to Ortega's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Barnes wants a takedown but no success here.
Ortega lands a left hand.
Barnes tries to throw a body punch but Ortega avoids it by throwing Barnes back against the cage.
Ortega dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Ortega pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Ortega drops Barnes with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Barnes looks back up at him and smiles so Ortega waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Barnes has his takedown stuffed
and Ortega counters with a huge overhand right that connects right on the temple, sending him crumpling, face first to the floor! This one is all over! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Carlos Ortega!
After the fight, Carlos Ortega was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
