Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rory Macpierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonzalez kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Hail Mary - Tupac. Rory Macpierre has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macpierre works Gonzalez 's body with a nice hook.
Macpierre shoots and misses
and Gonzalez counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Macpierre looks to score with a jab to the body but Gonzalez is just out of range.
Gonzalez went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Gonzalez misses with a hook. Macpierre ducked under it nicely.
Macpierre throws out a powerful jab.
Macpierre slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gonzalez gets caught napping as Macpierre dives in and scores a takedown. Gonzalez manages to retain guard.

Gonzalez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Macpierre doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Macpierre manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Macpierre accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Macpierre postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Macpierre wants to control from the top but Gonzalez keeps moving.
Macpierre is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Macpierre throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Macpierre changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gonzalez tries to avoid it but Macpierre manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gonzalez to the ground. Gonzalez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round but I would say that Nick Gonzalez will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Gonzalez sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Macpierre's defenses. It connects perfectly with Macpierre's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!
