Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Magomedrasul Khasbulaev!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khasbulaev loads up on a big right hand but Day slips the punch.

Khasbulaev clinches up with Day and pushes him back against the cage.
Day has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Khasbulaev is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Day doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Khasbulaev lands with a left to the head.
Day tries a body shot but Khasbulaev blocks it.
A short right from Khasbulaev.
Khasbulaev fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Day breaks the clinch.
Khasbulaev tries to land a front kick but Day steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
A decent looking cross lands there for Khasbulaev.
A slapping leg kick lands for Khasbulaev.
Khasbulaev lets loose with a powerful body kick. Day will feel that in the morning.

Oh Day is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Khasbulaev ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Day moves away.
Khasbulaev throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Day.
Day avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Day seems to have got his legs back now.
Khasbulaev throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Khasbulaev has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Day is landing a low percentage of strikes.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Day creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Day has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Khasbulaev after a bit of a struggle.
I was talking to Day's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Day's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Day moves out of range of the strikes.
Khasbulaev takes a swing at Day's ribcage but misses.

A little jabbing left from Khasbulaev on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Magomedrasul Khasbulaev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters circling - Khasbulaev throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Khasbulaev throws a right hand that Day ducks under and follows up with a left that Day also avoids with ease.
It looked like Day wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Khasbulaev attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Khasbulaev throws a right and a left that both miss.
Day bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Day throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Khasbulaev tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Day is in Khasbulaev's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Khasbulaev is looking to stand up but Day isn't so interested in that idea.

Khasbulaev utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Khasbulaev is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Day passes Khasbulaev's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Day wants to lay and pray for a moment but Khasbulaev keeps working.

Day is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Day shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Khasbulaev eats them both and turns towards Day to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Day throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Day throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Day slips a straight right by Khasbulaev.
A little feinted left hand from Day on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Khasbulaev connects with an inside leg kick.
Khasbulaev jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Khasbulaev walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Day checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Khasbulaev looks to throw the jab but Day is out of range.

Khasbulaev has Day up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Khasbulaev's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Day walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Day finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Khasbulaev's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Day falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!

Our winner, Magomedrasul Khasbulaev, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
