PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between William Holbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rickson Moura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, William Holbert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Emerson Jorge.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holbert tries to clinch up.
Holbert shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Moura eats them both and turns towards Holbert to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Holbert shoots in for a takedown but Moura shows good takedown defense.
Horrible takedown attempt by Holbert or perhaps it was just good defense by Moura, which made it look bad.
Moura tries to counter by closing the distance.
Holbert has been working on his boxing with his coaches at AXIS - Rio Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Holbert wants to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moura fails with the takedown.
Moura closes the distance and clinches up with Holbert, looking for a takedown. Moura pushes Holbert against the cage but Holbert circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Moura fails with a takedown attempt.
William Holbert has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rickson Moura.

Nice takedown defense from Moura. No joy for Holbert on that attempt.
Moura drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Holbert defends it well.
Holbert stuns Moura with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Holbert misses with a kick to the body.
Moura stuffs the takedown.
Moura is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Holbert throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Moura was covering up waiting for the punch and Holbert finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Moura is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Holbert defends well.
Moura looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Moura is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Holbert is aware though and is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Holbert wants to stand but Moura has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Moura is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Holbert is sitting in close to Moura's body. Moura has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Holbert is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Holbert is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Moura.
