The crowd seem to be enjoying Kriel's choice of entrance music: Fokofpolisiekar - Fokofpolisiekar. Kami Kazi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kami Kazi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jan Kriel!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kriel rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Kazi counters with an outside leg kick.
Kriel throws a solid leg kick but Kazi takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Kriel.
Kazi shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Kazi fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kriel is out of range.
Kazi definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Kriel ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Kazi throws a sloppy head kick and Kriel moves out of range easily.
Kriel checks the leg kick nicely there.
Kriel lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Kazi throws a sloppy head kick and Kriel moves out of range easily.
Kazi misses with a straight left.
Kazi on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Kriel throws a lazy uppercut
and Kazi counters with a good, hard body kick but Kriel shrugs it off.
Jan Kriel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kriel bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kazi's head backwards.
A lazy left from Kriel finds it's target.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kriel turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Kazi takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Kazi showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kriel.

Kriel fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kazi on the side of the head.
Kazi walks into a stiff left hand from Kriel.
A low kick from Kriel is predictable there
and Kazi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Jan Kriel has been cut.
Kriel throws out a loose jab but Kazi uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kazi misses the shot to the body.
A left lands for Kriel.
Kriel scoring well with a low kick there.
Kriel throws a lazy right hand but Kazi sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
As Kriel backs away, Kazi returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
The crowd cheers as Kriel lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kazi doesn't seem phased though.
Kriel uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Kriel lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Kazi throws a chopping leg kick but Kriel manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kriel fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kriel throws the left hand but Kazi avoids the punch easily.
Kriel lands with an uppercut that bounces Kazi off the cage and back into range.
Kriel throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kazi misses with a wild body shot.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kriel! But no joy.
Kriel moves out of range of the body kick from Kazi.
A nice side step and Kriel releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Kriel lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Kazi missing with a left hand there. Kriel was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A countering left hand to the body from Kriel misses.
Kriel misses with a straight left.
Kriel misses with a shot to the body
and Kazi counters with a good, hard body kick but Kriel shrugs it off.
Kazi turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Kriel lands a two punch combo.
Kriel misses with a kick to the body.
As Kriel backs away, Kazi returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Kriel misses with a straight left.

Kazi lands a big head kick that sends Kriel tumbling to the mat! Kazi takes a step backwards and waves Kriel back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Kriel is rocked!
Kazi ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Kriel's jaw. Kriel's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Kazi does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kami Kazi!
An out of breath Kami Kazi thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
