PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Frost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Westbrook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Frost!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Westbrook!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frost misses with an uppercut.
Frost looks to land a left hand but Westbrook moved out of range nicely.
Westbrook is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Frost seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Westbrook throws a push kick but Frost slaps the foot to one side.
Westbrook shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Frost sprawls well. Frost wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Westbrook gets slowly back to his feet.
A counter left hand to the body from Frost misses its target.
Westbrook darts in looking for a takedown but Frost gets double underhooks and turns Westbrook into the cage.

Westbrook feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Frost working for a triangle but Westbrook defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Frost bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Westbrook's guard.


Frost thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Frost is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Westbrook is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Westbrook has escaped and now he's on top!


Frost is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Westbrook would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Frost is looking for a triangle but Westbrook pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Westbrook got a little sloppy there for a moment and Frost has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Westbrook has managed to get both his arms back between Frost's legs - danger averted.
Westbrook lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Frost throws his legs up looking for a submission but Westbrook uses it to pass to side control.
Westbrook working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Frost gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Frost trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Westbrook manages to pass to mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Westbrook pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Frost in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Westbrook has hold of Frost's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Frost manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Frost bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Frost throws a big elbow that misses.
Westbrook really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Frost. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Westbrook seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Westbrook wants to stand but Frost is controlling the position.
Frost won't allow Westbrook to sweep him here.

Westbrook wants to stand and escape. He's got his foot on Frost's hips, looking to push off. But Frost grabs a hold of the leg and drops back for an ankle lock! It's hard to tell if he's got it. Both fighters look composed - OH, not anymore they don't! Westbrook screams like a kid who's trapped his fingers in the car door and taps out! Yikes, that must have hurt - hopefully it's not snapped anything!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). Chris Frost!
