Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anderson Aldo!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sebastien Ostereguy!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo lands with a shot to the body.
Ostereguy has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Ostereguy looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Aldo throws a low kick but Ostereguy avoids it.
Aldo goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Sebastien Ostereguy has been cut.
Sebastien Ostereguy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aldo swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Ostereguy.
Aldo lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Ostereguy works over Aldo's head and body with a nice combination.
Ostereguy rushes Aldo and presses him up against the ropes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Aldo tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Ostereguy's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Ostereguy breaks from the clinch.
Ostereguy displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Aldo throws out the jab.
Ostereguy works over Aldo's head and body with a nice combination.
Ostereguy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Aldo waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ostereguy.
Ostereguy tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Aldo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ostereguy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
As Ostereguy backs away, Aldo returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Aldo takes a swing at Ostereguy's ribcage but misses.
Aldo bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ostereguy's head backwards.
Ostereguy is rocked!
Aldo is stalking Ostereguy. Ostereguy circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Aldo, and it's lights out! Ostereguy really payed the price for that rookie mistake.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Anderson Aldo!
Anderson Aldo retains his middleweight title!
