PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brian Colt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Armen Petrosyan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Colt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Armen Petrosyan!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Colt lands with a shot to the body.
Colt with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Petrosyan wants to clinch but Colt slips to the side
and Colt counters with a nice uppercut.
Petrosyan tries to close the distance and clinch but Colt swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Colt dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Petrosyan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Petrosyan takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Colt has taken the fight to the clinch.
Colt is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Colt tries a body shot but Petrosyan blocks it.
Petrosyan throws an elbow but it misses.
Petrosyan throws an elbow but it misses.
Colt scores with a hook to the body.
Colt blocks the elbow strike.
Colt takes a knee right on the jaw!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Petrosyan misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Colt.
Petrosyan throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Petrosyan stops a takedown attempt from Colt.

Colt blocks an elbow strike from Petrosyan.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Colt lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Petrosyan or not.
Petrosyan looks winded!
Colt tries to throw a body punch but Petrosyan avoids it by throwing Colt back against the cage.
Petrosyan lands an elbow inside that Colt shrugs off.
Petrosyan prevents a body shot from Colt.
Colt gets through Petrosyan's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Petrosyan gets underhooks to prevent Colt's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian Colt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Colt goes for a takedown attempt but Petrosyan pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Armen Petrosyan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Petrosyan moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Petrosyan moves to clinch but Colt breaks away
and Colt cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Colt looks to score with a jab to the body but Petrosyan is just out of range.
Petrosyan slips a jab and a cross from Colt.
Colt fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Colt scores with a leg kick.
Petrosyan on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Petrosyan doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A cross from Colt lands.
Petrosyan is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Petrosyan is looking to clinch but Colt is avoiding it.
Colt fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Petrosyan on the side of the head.
Petrosyan tries to clinch there but Colt circles away.
Petrosyan is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Colt with a jab.
Colt jabs Petrosyan right on the nose. Petrosyan blinks but takes it well.
Colt scores with a body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Petrosyan wants to clinch.
Colt lands a nice hook to Petrosyan's body. Petrosyan takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Petrosyan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Colt paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Colt keeps the fight on the outside.
Petrosyan moves to clinch but Colt breaks away
and Colt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Colt connects with a body shot that sends Petrosyan's belly button to the back.
Colt keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
A cross from Colt lands.
Colt is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Petrosyan closes the distance looking to clinch
letting Colt counter with a right hand.
Colt throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Colt drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Petrosyan is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Petrosyan is trying to buck Colt off.
Colt scores with a couple of short elbows.
Petrosyan wants to get back to his feet but Colt drags him back down.
Colt landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Petrosyan is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Colt dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Colt scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Petrosyan doesn't seem bothered though.
Colt shoots in for a takedown but Petrosyan shows good takedown defense.
Colt connects with a right hand. Petrosyan shakes it off.
Colt shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Petrosyan eats them both and turns towards Colt to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


Petrosyan is rocked!
Colt shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Petrosyan takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Colt sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Petrosyan bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Brian Colt!
