PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Orlando Gonzales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Petar Wazniac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Orlando Gonzales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Petar Wazniac!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Shimada and Kenichi Hosakawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gonzales moves into range and clinches up with Wazniac.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Wazniac swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Wazniac is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Gonzales can't fight it off and eventually Wazniac manages to take the fight to the floor. Gonzales looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Gonzales kicks Wazniac off and gets to his feet.

Wazniac looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Gonzales manages to escape and get back to his feet!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gonzales will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gonzales sets himself, and Wazniac steps forward looking for the clinch! Gonzales avoids it this time.
Gonzales lands a jab to the nose.

Gonzales shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Gonzales was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Gonzales lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Wazniac down.

Gonzales is working Wazniac over with some ground and pound from side control.

Wazniac looks winded!
Wazniac takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gonzales landing strikes.
Gonzales is chipping away with strikes.
Gonzales remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Gonzales connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Wazniac some visible discomfort.
Gonzales looks up at the clock and then as Wazniac takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Gonzales smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Gonzales is chipping away with strikes.

Wazniac takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Gonzales stands up and beckons Wazniac to his feet.

Gonzales gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wazniac to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Gonzales is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Wazniac presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wazniac has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Gonzales clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Gonzales could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gonzales is in bad spot here.

Gonzales manages to stand up with Wazniac still on his back. Eventually Wazniac drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position.

Gonzales takes the fight into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gonzales has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Wazniac uses from the top position.

Gonzales is looking to cinch up a triangle. Wazniac throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Gonzales's body to avoid the submission. Gonzales has instead reached around Wazniac's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Gonzales arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
