Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gilbert Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Smith will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Smith!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith is looking to slow Day down with leg kicks.
An inside leg kick lands from Smith.

Smith with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Smith throws a front kick aimed at Day's knee but Day avoids it well.
Day has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Smith.
Smith throws a head kick that misses.

Day has Smith up against the cage in a clinch.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Day darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smith looks like he's trying to stand up.

Day working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Day is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Day shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Day was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Day is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Smith knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Day thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Day is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Smith is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Smith wants to get back to his feet but Day drags him back down.
Smith seems a little lost for a moment, as Day dominates the positioning.
Smith is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Day asserts his dominance and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jake Smith will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Smith lands a nice leg kick that just misses Day's sensitive parts.

Smith fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Day.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Day on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Smith thumps Day with a low kick.
Smith lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Smith throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
A nice leg kick lands there from Smith.
Jake Smith seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Smith stuffs the takedown attempt from Day. Day gets slowly back to his feet.
Day shoots in but Smith avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gilbert Day. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Smith counters with a crisp one two that drops Day! Smith thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Day to his feet! Day is in big trouble!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith digs a good hook to Day's body.
Oh Day is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Day wants to stay close but Smith steps back to make room for something. Day seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Smith and Day drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Jake Smith!
