The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romanov shoots in and drives through. Gotsov sprawls well.
Gotsov appears to be looking for a big counter.

Romanov throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gotsov was covering up waiting for the punch and Romanov finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Gotsov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Romanov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Romanov controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Gotsov keeping full guard, as Romanov tries to pass.
Romanov looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Gotsov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gotsov tries to get out of the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gotsov looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Romanov trying to control but Gotsov is working from the bottom.
Gotsov controls Romanov momentarily but Romanov frees himself.

Gotsov has his foot on Romanov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Romanov works his way back into a safe position though.
Romanov engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Romanov advances position into side control!
Romanov is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Romanov has an Americana. Gotsov didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Romanov is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Romanov hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
