The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cheekhammer stuffs the takedown attempt from Vazquez. Vazquez gets slowly back to his feet.
Vazquez shoots in for a double leg but Cheekhammer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Vazquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cheekhammer misses with an uppercut. Vazquez saw that one coming.

Cheekhammer is looking to escape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Vazquez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Cheekhammer misses with a double jab
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Vazquez goes for a double leg but Cheekhammer avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cheekhammer continues to drive forward.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Vazquez thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Vazquez scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cheekhammer is trying to get back to his feet but Vazquez has full control of the position and if anything, Cheekhammer has just worked his way into a worse spot.

and Vazquez counters with a series of strikes. Cheekhammer will be more careful next time no doubt.
Vazquez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cheekhammer tries to avoid it but Vazquez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cheekhammer to the ground. Cheekhammer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

It looks like Zachariah Vazquez has been cut.
Vazquez glances at the clock... BAM! Cheekhammer nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Vazquez crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Vazquez is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
