Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 19 - 2, fighting out of London, Jon Paul Fish!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 19 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Schelokov!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fish connects with a leg kick. Schelokov looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Fish tries to clinch up.
Fish throws a head kick that misses
and Schelokov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Fish looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Schelokov is fending him off so far but Fish persists. Nope, Schelokov circles away and we're back to standing.
Fish goes for a double leg but Schelokov avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Schelokov continues to drive forward.
Schelokov scores with a shot to the body.
Schelokov looks to land a right hand but Fish moved out of range.
Fish shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Schelokov but Schelokov pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Paul Fish. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fish slips under a jab from Schelokov.
Fish throwing a counter right hand but Schelokov manages to avoid it.
Schelokov checks a leg kick nicely.
Fish throws a jab when Schelokov was well out of range.
Schelokov throws out a counter right but Fish avoids it with no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fish misses with a low kick.

Fish shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Fish content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fish wants to pass the guard but Schelokov is keeping the position.
Schelokov with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Fish can't handle though.

Schelokov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Schelokov looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Schelokov keeping moving, preventing Fish from controlling successfully.

Schelokov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Fish lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Fish will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Fish content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Schelokov working for a triangle but Fish defends it easily.
Schelokov trying to keep a closed guard but Fish is proving a slippery customer.

Fish is looking to work some ground and pound but Schelokov has wrist control.

Schelokov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Schelokov wants to hit a switch here but Fish passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Schelokov there!
Fish looking to control but Schelokov is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Schelokov is bucking up trying to escape but Fish cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fish unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Schelokov wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Fish celebrates on the ropes and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jon Paul Fish!
