PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rueben Foreman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuri Boyka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yuri Boyka is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rueben Foreman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yuri Boyka!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jonathan Paton and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boyka looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Foreman is fending him off so far but Boyka persists. Nope, Foreman circles away and we're back to standing.
Boyka shoots in and drives through. Foreman sprawls well.
Foreman throws a nice looking combination but Boyka bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Boyka will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rueben Foreman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yuri Boyka.
Boyka throws a head kick that misses.

Boyka pushes Foreman up against the cage in a clinch.
Boyka is defending well against a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Foreman jumps guard but Boyka turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Foreman turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boyka wants to get back to his feet but Foreman is dominant here and he's now got Boyka's back!
Foreman is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Boyka up.

Boyka rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Foreman is looking for a kimura here.

Boyka is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Foreman is staying active.
Boyka looks like he's trying to stand up.

Foreman landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Foreman is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Boyka doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Foreman.

Boyka trying to control but Foreman postures up.
Foreman winds up and cracks Boyka with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Foreman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Boyka wants to control but Foreman is keeping busy.
Foreman slips a nice elbow through Boyka's hands, connecting with Boyka's forehead.

Foreman is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Boyka is just riding it out for now. Foreman eventually gives up the hold.
Foreman takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Foreman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Boyka with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Foreman is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Boyka has managed to free his arm - good work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Foreman is working for a kimura but Boyka is defending it quite comfortably.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rueben Foreman dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Foreman moves out of range of the body kick.
Foreman swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Nice sprawl there from Foreman as Boyka shoots in.

Boyka has managed to clinch.
Foreman is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Boyka is defending well for now.

Boyka pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Boyka dodges the punch combination from Foreman.

Boyka shoots and misses
and Foreman counters with a nice uppercut.

Foreman drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Foreman tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Foreman goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Boyka rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Foreman's guard! Nice work there by Boyka!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Foreman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Boyka defends well.
Foreman preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Boyka throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Foreman works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Foreman is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Boyka frees his head nicely. Oh but Foreman has switched to an armbar! Boyka is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
