PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jacques Parks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mamed Khalidov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacques Parks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mamed Khalidov!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Chris Dean and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khalidov has a takedown stuffed.
Khalidov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Parks pinned against the cage. Parks gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A thudding body kick lands there by Khalidov!
Khalidov shoots in for a double leg but Parks sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jacques Parks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mamed Khalidov.
Parks takes a shot to the body in his stride.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khalidov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Parks but Parks pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mamed Khalidov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Khalidov.

Khalidov dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Khalidov closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like Jacques Parks has been cut.

Parks clinches up against the cage.

Khalidov has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Parks uses from the top position.
Parks is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Khalidov is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Parks defends well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Parks with a flurry of punches that miss.
Khalidov is looking to stand back up but Parks counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Khalidov.
Parks seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Khalidov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Khalidov is looking to control Parks's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Khalidov avoid being mounted?

Khalidov tries to roll over but Parks keeps him under control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Parks looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The fighters circling - Parks throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Parks moves into the clinch successfully.
Parks changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Khalidov fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Parks throws a sloppy head kick and Khalidov moves out of range easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Khalidov stuffs the takedown.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Khalidov is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Parks is defending well.

Khalidov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Khalidov lands a head kick!
Khalidov shoots in looking for a takedown but Parks manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Khalidov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Parks tries to close the distance and clinch but Khalidov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Parks rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Khalidov counters with a left and a right that stings Parks.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Parks defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Khalidov.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Khalidov tries a head kick but it misses.
Parks tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Khalidov was well out of range. Poor timing from Parks.
And Khalidov tries to counter it with a takedown but Parks pushes his down on his head and steps out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Parks doesn't manage to clinch there - Khalidov circles away.
Mamed Khalidov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Khalidov throws a nice outside leg kick.
Khalidov misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Khalidov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Parks swivels and escapes.
Parks seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Khalidov fails with the takedown.
Jacques Parks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mamed Khalidov.
Parks tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Khalidov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Parks keeps the fight on the outside.
Mamed Khalidov seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Parks tries to clinch there but Khalidov circles away.
Khalidov tries a quick counter leg kick but Parks is wise to it.
Khalidov circles away from the clinch attempt.
Khalidov tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Parks avoids a punch combination nicely.
Khalidov is breathing heavily.

Khalidov clinches.
Parks goes for a takedown attempt but Khalidov pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Parks closes the distance and clinches.

Khalidov ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Khalidov no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Parks is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Khalidov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Parks can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Khalidov is looking to escape.
Parks fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Parks has hold of Khalidov's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Khalidov manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Parks in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Parks can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Khalidov is looking to escape.
Khalidov really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Parks wants to control the pace but Khalidov is squirming around nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jacques Parks will probably get the nod.

Parks drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khalidov is looking for a sweep.
Parks gets to mount! Khalidov was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Parks controlling from the full mount.
Jacques Parks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Parks seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Khalidov for as long as he can get away with.
Khalidov has given up his back here.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Khalidov tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Parks controlling from the full mount.
Khalidov tries to hold on but Parks postures up.
Khalidov is trying to reverse the position but instead Parks has taken his back - oops!

Parks not allowing Khalidov to control his hands.
You can see the frustration on Khalidov's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
