Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Francisco Hendrix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronald Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Francisco Hendrix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ronald Wright!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wright looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Hendrix has one foot on Wright's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Wright clinches up against the cage.
Hendrix really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hendrix drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hendrix trying to stall but Wright improves his position.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Hendrix gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Wright regains guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hendrix postures up in Wright's guard and throws a big left but Wright blocks it.
Wright is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Wright is trying to control the position but Hendrix postures up.

Hendrix stands and steps away. Wright gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Wright darts in and clinches Hendrix up against the cage.

Wright breaks the clinch.

Wright gets a clinch.

Wright works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Hendrix has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Wright has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Wright jumps into guard, dragging Hendrix to the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wright is trying to control the position but Hendrix postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hendrix stands and steps away. Wright gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Wright gets the takedown into side control.

Hendrix bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Wright looks winded!

Hendrix has one foot on Wright's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Wright lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Wright throws a head kick but Hendrix moves out of range.

Wright moves into the clinch successfully.

Hendrix gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Wright regains guard.

Hendrix stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Hendrix jumps guard but Wright stands there with Hendrix around his waist. Hendrix gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Wright instigates a clinch.

Wright breaks from the clinch.
Wright explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Wright closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hendrix to the mat! Hendrix manages to get full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hendrix is on top in guard.

Hendrix lands a couple of elbows.
Wright trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Hendrix with a flurry of punches that miss.

Wright pushes Hendrix off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hendrix moves out of range of the body kick from Wright.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Francisco Hendrix will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hendrix avoids the head kick by Wright.
Hendrix appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Wright closes the distance and pushes Hendrix back into the cage.
Wright is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Wright working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Wright gets control of Hendrix's arms and successfully pulls guard. Wright will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Hendrix stands up from Wright's guard - Hendrix perhaps looking for a knockout.

Wright has managed to clinch.
Hendrix has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hendrix is looking to take this one to the mat.

Come on Hendrix - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Wright turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Wright manages to end up in side control.

Hendrix throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Hendrix jumps guard but Wright stands there with Hendrix around his waist. Hendrix gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Ronald Wright seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wright changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hendrix looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hendrix pushes Wright away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Wright gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Wright wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hendrix keeps working.
Wright is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Wright wants to control for a moment but Hendrix uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Hendrix wants to get back to his feet.

Wright is pressing down on Hendrix's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hendrix is holding on for now.

Wright tries to free his leg and advance position but Hendrix is retaining full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Wright's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Hendrix is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wright defends well.

Wright chips away with some ground and pound.
Wright really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hendrix. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wright wants to control from the top but Hendrix keeps moving.
Hendrix pulls Wright in close to prevent any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wright is looking to stand up but Hendrix won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ronald Wright showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Hendrix tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Wright just stands there and leans against the cage.
Hendrix is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Wright to keep the fight standing.

Wright ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Wright no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Hendrix throws a big right hand that misses.

Wright is trying to keep Hendrix in close.
Wright tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wright preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wright thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Hendrix drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hendrix jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Wright is working an open guard so Hendrix takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Wright has Hendrix pressed against the cage, preventing Hendrix from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Wright is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Come on Hendrix - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Wright has hold of one of Hendrix's legs. Hendrix is fighting the takedown attempt but Wright gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Hendrix has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Wright is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Hendrix drops down looking for an ankle pick but Wright pulls his leg out and moves away.

Wright cracks Hendrix with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Wright has managed to clinch.
Hendrix is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Wright pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Wright instigates a clinch.
Hendrix wants a takedown but no success here.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Wright has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Hendrix clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Wright is looking to control Hendrix but Hendrix is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Hendrix defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Wright's arms.
Hendrix is trying to get back to his feet but Wright has full control of the position and if anything, Hendrix has just worked his way into a worse spot.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hendrix tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Hendrix gets back to half guard.

Hendrix manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Ronald Wright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hendrix tries to keep at a distance but Wright has taken the fight into the clinch.
Wright gets through Hendrix's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Hendrix is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Wright is defending well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ronald Wright comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Wright has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
