Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Satoshi Tanahashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hayden Easterly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tanahashi's entrance music is Blood Stain Child - Stargazer. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Satoshi Tanahashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hayden Easterly!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Easterly keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Tanahashi.
Easterly swinging wildly here.
Tanahashi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tanahashi dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Easterly tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Tanahashi defends well and Easterly ends up having to push Tanahashi into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Easterly keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Easterly with the counter takedown but Tanahashi avoids it easily.

Easterly forces Tanahashi back against the ropes and clinches.
Tanahashi lands a body punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tanahashi is trying to push Easterly away but Easterly has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.

Tanahashi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

A little jabbing left from Easterly on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Tanahashi moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Tanahashi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Easterly was well out of range. Poor timing from Tanahashi.
Easterly is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Tanahashi throws a quick inside leg kick.
Tanahashi paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.


It looks like Hayden Easterly has been cut.

Tanahashi gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Easterly to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Tanahashi manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Tanahashi is trying to control but can't.
Easterly content to control rather than advance.
Easterly is thwarting Tanahashi's attempts to control the position.

Easterly is trying to control the action in half guard but Tanahashi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Tanahashi tries to get to full guard but Easterly has control of the leg.

Easterly is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Tanahashi doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Easterly.

Easterly wants to pass the guard but Tanahashi is keeping the position.
Easterly wants to control from the top but Tanahashi keeps moving.
Tanahashi is trying to control the position but Easterly postures up.

Tanahashi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Easterly defends well.
Easterly pushing down on Tanahashi's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Easterly looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Tanahashi wants to improve his position but Easterly is controlling well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tanahashi is not content to let Easterly control the position.

Easterly is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tanahashi defends it well.

Tanahashi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tanahashi is working hard here to advance position.
Easterly seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tanahashi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Satoshi Tanahashi will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The crowd cheers as Tanahashi lands an impressive looking overhand right. Easterly doesn't seem phased though.
Easterly uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Tanahashi.
Tanahashi is looking to wear down Easterly with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Tanahashi just misses with a punch to the body.
Easterly takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Easterly wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tanahashi keeps working.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Easterly is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tanahashi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Easterly is looking to take a break and control but Tanahashi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Tanahashi uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Easterly.

Easterly is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Easterly tries to clinch up but Tanahashi circles away and keeps his distance.
Tanahashi walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Easterly checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Tanahashi fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Easterly on the side of the head.

Easterly lands with an uppercut that bounces Tanahashi off the ropes and back into range.
Tanahashi scores with the left hand. Easterly knows he should have avoided that one.


That has opened up Hayden Easterly's cut even more.
Tanahashi throws a body punch but Easterly moves out of range.
Tanahashi ducks under a wild hook from Easterly.
Tanahashi lets loose with a powerful body kick. Easterly will feel that in the morning.
Tanahashi scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Nice uppercut there from Tanahashi.


Easterly is rocked!

Tanahashi on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Easterly keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tanahashi jabbing away but nothing is landing.
No luck for Easterly with that takedown attempt.
As Easterly backs away, Tanahashi returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Tanahashi lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
A combination from Tanahashi does no damage.
Tanahashi just misses with a punch to the body.

Easterly dives in for a single leg takedown but Tanahashi sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.

Easterly tries for a takedown but Tanahashi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Satoshi Tanahashi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hayden Easterly.
Tanahashi pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Tanahashi lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


The cut above Hayden Easterly's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Tanahashi throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Easterly changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Tanahashi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Easterly can do to turn this around?

Tanahashi cracks Easterly with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Easterly looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Tanahashi finish him?

Tanahashi fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tanahashi throws a body shot but no joy.
Easterly with the counter takedown but Tanahashi avoids it easily.
Easterly seems to have recovered his senses.
Tanahashi throws a left and a right that both miss
and Easterly counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hayden Easterly's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Tanahashi looks to throw the jab but Easterly is out of range.
Tanahashi lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Tanahashi misses with a wild combination.
Easterly feints the counter takedown.
Tanahashi throws a body punch but Easterly moves out of range.
Easterly blocks the body kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
Satoshi Tanahashi showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Tanahashi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
