The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jokinen throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Aldo sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Aldo shoots for a takedown but Jokinen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jokinen lands a jab.
Jokinen moves away from the strike by Aldo.
Aldo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jokinen defends it nicely.
Ode Jokinen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jokinen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jokinen throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aldo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jokinen's waist but Jokinen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Aldo off to one side.

Aldo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Aldo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Jokinen holds on and takes a little breather.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It seemed like Jokinen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Aldo takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jokinen clobbers Aldo with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Aldo closes the distance and clinches up with Jokinen, looking for a takedown. Aldo pushes Jokinen against the cage but Jokinen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
