Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Justin Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Gold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunter comes to the cage accompanied by Got Your Six- Five Finger Death Punch. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Gold!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Reed Andrews and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hunter scores with a takedown into Gold's guard.
Gold is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gold looking to control.
Gold lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Gold postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Hunter working for a triangle but Gold defends it easily.
Hunter wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gold wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.
Gold throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hunter works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gold looking to pass the guard.
Gold throws a big right hand that misses.

Hunter keeping moving, preventing Gold from controlling successfully.

Hunter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gold gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gold landing some decent shots from guard.
Gold tries to free his leg and advance position but Hunter is retaining full guard.
Hunter has his hands on Gold's head, controlling the position.
Gold throws a big right hand that misses.
Gold stands up over Hunter, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Gold cracks Hunter with a solid left hand.
Gold lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gold trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Gold landing some decent shots from guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hunter is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gold wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.
Gold postures up in Hunter's guard and throws a big left but Hunter blocks it.

Hunter throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Gold lands a couple of digs.
Hunter bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gold's guard.

Gold tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gold working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hunter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hunter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hunter got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gold has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hunter has managed to get both his arms back between Gold's legs - danger averted.
Gold has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Whirl's Burger Bar (and Gym). Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Hunter is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gold manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hunter manages to get himself to full guard.

Hunter definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gold lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Hunter wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Gold dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hunter circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gold tries to clinch there but Hunter circles away.
Gold checks the leg kick.
Gold has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gold tries to clinch but Hunter is having none of it.
Gold wants to clinch up but Hunter keeps it at a distance.
Justin Hunter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hunter tries to bum rush Gold with a series of wild strikes but Gold uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Gold has Hunter up against the cage in a clinch.
Hunter can't find room to land a body shot as Gold controls the action.
Gold using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Hunter has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Hunter tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Gold's elbow.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Hunter just misses with a elbow thrown towards Gold's brow.

Hunter has picked Gold up - he's going for a ride! Hunter dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Hunter lands with a punch from half guard.
Hunter throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Gold works his way to full guard. Good work.

Gold has an active guard here but Hunter has managed to pass into half guard.

Gold is in trouble now - Hunter has advanced to mount!
Justin Hunter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gold keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Hunter working for a guillotine from mount but Gold is in no mood to give up.
Hunter with a couple of short strikes.
Gold sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Gold wants to control but Hunter is keeping busy.
Hunter works his way into full mount!
Hunter avoids the attempt from Gold to control.
Gold regains half guard.

Hunter is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gold moves into full guard.

Gold is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hunter defends well.

Gold working for a triangle but Hunter defends it easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gold is on top in guard.

Gold missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Hunter throws his legs up looking for a submission but Gold uses it to pass to side control.
Gold scores with a couple of short elbows.
Gold grinds an elbow into Hunter's temple.
Hunter taking a bit of punishment here - Gold scoring with strikes.
Gold lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hunter down.
Hunter is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Gold wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hunter keeps working.
You can see the frustration on Hunter's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hunter takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Gold scores with a couple of short elbows.
Hunter is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Gold working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Justin Hunter will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Gold tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hunter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gold moves out of range as Hunter strikes.
Gold appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Hunter feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Gold is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hunter is aware though and is defending well.

Gold has his foot on Hunter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hunter works his way back into a safe position though.
Gold controls Hunter momentarily but Hunter frees himself.
Hunter scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Hunter loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Gold is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gold has hold of Hunter's hands but Hunter slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Hunter swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Justin Hunter!
Justin Hunter opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
