PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johann Kessler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Woo Kidd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kessler comes to the cage accompanied by Coal Chamber - Burgundy. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johann Kessler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Woo Kidd!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Columbo Gatti and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kidd digs a good body shot into Kessler's ribs.
Kidd throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Kessler counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kidd won't be happy with that.
Kessler working the head and body with strikes.
Kessler creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kidd sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Kessler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kidd keeps working.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kidd cracks Kessler with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Kidd takes a swing at Kessler's ribcage but misses.

Kessler throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kidd tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kessler is in Kidd's guard.
Kessler has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kessler accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Kessler here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

My spies in WildBoar's Pig Pen (Strength and Conditioning) $40 inform me that Kidd has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kessler, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
