The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maldini throws a head kick that misses.
Smaug throws a jab but it's blocked by Maldini.
Smaug definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Smaug throws a left and a right that both miss
and Smaug takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

It looks like Cinder Smaug has been cut.
A swing and a miss from Maldini.
Maldini cracks Smaug with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Smaug with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Smaug throws a sloppy head kick and Maldini moves out of range easily.
Maldini lands with a straight right. Smaug didn't see that one coming.
Maldini doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Maldini lands with an uppercut that bounces Smaug off the cage and back into range.
Smaug stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Maldini.
Maldini uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smaug.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smaug throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Maldini counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Maldini pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Maldini lands with a straight right. Smaug didn't see that one coming.
A jab from Maldini does it's job there.
Maldini throws out a leg kick but Smaug moves out of range and Maldini only half commits.
Smaug misses with a shot to the body
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Maldini cracks Smaug with a big right hand and Smaug goes down!

Smaug is rocked!

Maldini pushing down on Smaug's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Oh Smaug is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Maldini content to control rather than advance.
Smaug seems to have got his legs back now.
Smaug tries to kick Maldini off but Maldini keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maldini seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Smaug is staying active underneath Maldini, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Maldini wants to work for an arm triangle but Smaug is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Maldini has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Smaug defend it? Maldini steps over the head and cranks it - Smaug is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Maldini!
