I think Wright might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Only the Strong will Continue. Jermaine Wright could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to BJ McGobblecock, Jr.'s chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Jermaine Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, BJ McGobblecock!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
McGobblecock, Jr. has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
McGobblecock, Jr. pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McGobblecock, Jr. wants to clinch
and Wright counters with a stiff right hand.

A momentary lapse in concentration from McGobblecock, Jr. enables Wright to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. McGobblecock, Jr. manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
McGobblecock, Jr. is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
McGobblecock, Jr. is trying to keep Wright in close.

Wright connects with a leg kick. McGobblecock, Jr. looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Wright throws a jab but it's blocked by McGobblecock, Jr..
Wright throws an overhand right that lands on McGobblecock, Jr.'s shoulder, as McGobblecock, Jr. tries to avoid the shot.
Wright fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McGobblecock, Jr. manages to avoid it.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from McGobblecock, Jr.! But no joy.
Wright looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
McGobblecock, Jr. throws a head kick that misses
enabling Wright to counter with a crisp jab.
McGobblecock, Jr. throws a jab when Wright was well out of range.

Wright circles away from the clinch attempt.
McGobblecock, Jr. ducks under a wild hook from Wright.

and Wright cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

McGobblecock, Jr. slips a straight right by Wright.
McGobblecock, Jr. is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wright.
Wright needs to keep his hands up - McGobblecock, Jr. had a free shot at his head there.
McGobblecock, Jr. looks to land a left hand but Wright moved out of range nicely.
McGobblecock, Jr. misses the jab.

Wright jabs McGobblecock, Jr. to the body, keeping him at a distance.
McGobblecock, Jr. moves out of range of the body kick from Wright.
BJ McGobblecock, Jr. seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGobblecock, Jr. lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Wright at a distance.

Wright waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract McGobblecock, Jr.. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped McGobblecock, Jr. to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wright is looking to work some ground and pound but McGobblecock, Jr. has wrist control.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wright accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Wright with a flurry of punches that miss.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGobblecock, Jr. wants to get back to his feet but Wright is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Wright sitting in guard here, content to control.
Wright postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
McGobblecock, Jr. wants to stand up but Wright is controlling him.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jermaine Wright dominated that round.
The cut man is working on BJ McGobblecock, Jr.'s cut.
That's time! Wright's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


McGobblecock, Jr. will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Wright lands a nice shot to the body.
McGobblecock, Jr. throws a lazy right hand but Wright sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
McGobblecock, Jr. scores with a kick to the body.

A countering left hand to the body from McGobblecock, Jr. misses.

Jermaine Wright is winning the standup battle so far.
McGobblecock, Jr. throws a low kick but it's checked well by Wright.

As McGobblecock, Jr. tries to get set, Wright tries to push him back and clinch up but McGobblecock, Jr. manages to avoid the attempt.

and McGobblecock, Jr. counters with a straight right hand.
McGobblecock, Jr. circles away from the clinch attempt.
McGobblecock, Jr. throws a big shot that misses.
McGobblecock, Jr. ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
McGobblecock, Jr. takes a swing at Wright's ribcage but misses.
Wright feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to McGobblecock, Jr.'s calf.
McGobblecock, Jr. tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Wright connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


That has opened up BJ McGobblecock, Jr.'s cut even more.
McGobblecock, Jr. walks straight into a right hand from Wright - that's dropped him! Wright jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save McGobblecock, Jr. from any more punishment! McGobblecock, Jr. complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Jermaine Wright!
An out of breath Jermaine Wright thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
