PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Davidson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spike Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Ethan Davidson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ethan Davidson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franklin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Davidson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Franklin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Davidson.

Davidson closes the distance and clinches.
Davidson has Franklin pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Franklin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Franklin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Davidson tries to avoid it but Franklin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Davidson to the ground. Davidson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Davidson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Franklin pulls his leg out and moves away.

Davidson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Franklin avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ethan Davidson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Davidson wants the takedown. Franklin is fighting it off but Davidson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Franklin's guard against the cage.

Davidson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Davidson manages to end up in side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Davidson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
